The original GS 600 just somehow was more dynamic a receiver than the GS 650.
Still, to the GS 600 versus GS 650, there was something I cannot explain, even having owned them both models for years. One should not mix these later on brand-copies, with the genuine Grundig high quality receivers of the 60's to 80's. The very last of the great, true German Grundig Satellit series. To my experience, only communications receivers such as the Icom IC-R71E, JRC NRD-515 and so on, pulled in stations better. On short-wave, the GS 650 is very sensitive. The Satellit FM tuner is highly sensitive, yet being able to handle strong signal field. The Satellit 650 was a true blaster, even though just monaural. Today, many very modest stereo cassette recorders of the 80's, are referred to as ghettoblasters. The amplifier, the huge loudspeaker, the tone controls were enough to put up a beach party, to FM hit music. But who cares, the sound quality was just massive.
